Anniversary

We just celebrated our second anniversary. I can't believe Kent and I have been married for two years. Kent asked for the day off so we could hang out all day and find something to do, but Sprint decided that they were not going to give it to him. So instead Krista and Chad came over a played Wii with us for about an hour, while the whole time Wesson screamed his head off. So I decided to make a grocery list for Kent and and send him out for food, while I got Wesson settled down. I just get Wesson to sleep when Kent comes back banging on the door to let him in and insist that I give him Wesson to put down and his was going to put the food away and I had to get the last bag out of the car. I was not very happy with this put he seemed a little rushed, so out I go to the car. To find that there was no food out there, only a dozen roses he had picked up for our anniversary. How sweet is that?! We went out to eat later in the week also to celebrate. Don't I have the sweetest and most caring man in the world? Oh, how I love him!

Bad week for Kent

So Kent has two favorite toys. A Nikon D40X Camera, and his laptop. Needless to say they both broke this week. His camera would not focus, so we took it in and the lens was broken. Luckily we don't have to pay to fix it, but he will be without it for two to three weeks. Yesterday his Laptop crashed and he is taking it in today for the Geek Squad to look at it. So we don't know what the damage it or how much it will cast. Bummer bad week for Kent. I just hope they can save all of my pictures!

Is this church?

So if you have read my past blog you would know that two weeks ago church was canceled due to a power outage from the tornado. Well last week went to go to church and as we were driving up to the building we noticed the houses around church building had no power. We were thinking to ourselves "Do we not have power again?" So we park and we noticed that the usually full lot is mostly empty. We were wondering if church had been canceled again and we didn't get the call, but people were going into the building and not coming out. So there must be church, right? Well, we walk into the building and we can't see a thing! There was no power!! But there is Bishop Pratt holding a flashlight talking to people. So we walk into the chapel and we can see the outlines of people and there were some flashlights up by the stand. So there was church! It was only a half hour and all done by flashlight! The decon's all had flashlights people had found in their cars to pass the sacrament. The pianist had a mining light on her head so she could play. The children sang their Father's Day songs as the closing number, and Wesson slept through the whole thing. What a meeting!!! I have to say that it was one of the best sacrament meeting I've been to.

Tornado!!!!

On our way home from Nauvoo we drove between two different tornado's. It was crazy!!! It was raining so hard that we couldn't see the road, it was hailing, and we could hear the sirens going off in the towns as we drove by on the highway. Then on Sunday we woke up to the phone ringing telling us that church was canceled due to no power at the building and lots of tree damage. I guess during the night there were tornado warning going off and Kent and I slept through the whole thing! The crazy thing is, that the tornado was a F-2 and on the ground for seven min. and came within a half mile from our house. We haven't had a tornado hit Omaha for many years so it was a shock to have one hit and have a lot of damage. There were trees on peoples houses and roofs blown off, but not one life was lost.

The Blow-out and the Butterflies

So a group of us went to the zoo to see the new butterfly pavilion. While we were standing line (Wesson was in the front pack) Wesson decided to let one go. I looked down to adjust the blanket over the top of him and it was covered with orange poop. Not only was the blanket covered with poop, but so were both legs of my pants and my shirt! I was covered. I had my mom go with me to help clean up and to top it off we had to wait for the changing table! But the butterflies were beautiful!

Navoo

So the day after the blessing my family which included Sabre ( a girl that lives with our family), Irving and Emilie, Grandma, Bethany and Daryl, and us took off in the big white express van to go explore Nauvoo. We stayed for three days enjoying many of the sites, including Carthage. We went to the red brick store, went on wagon rides, went to many of the houses, and of course we went to the gun places ( I forget what it's name is, but it's Kent's favorite). Of course we also went shopping and got fudge. We also got the opportunity to do a session in the Nauvoo Temple. That is such an amazing temple, the wood work was fascinating, and the spirit was so special. We actually got to shake hands with a seventies when we were there. I don't remember his name and we didn't even know who he was until a temple worker came up and told us. The fourth day we took off and stopped by Far West, Liberty, Andi-on-di-amon, and Independence. We finally got home late and went home only to find that we couldn't open the door. Apparently someone tried to break into our home, but failed. But Kent saved the day by crawling in our bedroom window, I guess the robber didn't think to look there, and opened the door for us. What a way to end a vacation!

Blessing Day

On June 1st Kent had the opportunity to bless our son Wesson Steven Thorne at church it was a wonderful experience and we glad to share it with our family. The Thorne family was present and so was the Tryon's ( at least those living in Omaha). We were excited that my Aunt Caroline, Uncle Garth, Hannah, Matt, Daryl, Bethany, Grandma Lamoreaux, Irving, Emilie, and Danielle were also able to be there. They all traveled from Arizona to be there. My mom made his blessing outfit using left over material from my wedding dress, and Wesson looked as handsome as can be.
