Fertility update

So last Monday I went in for an HSG, this is when they push dye through your tubes to see if there are any blockages, I was told I had "perfect tubes". So that's good. I just wish I knew what was wrong with me! Today I was supposed to go in for an ultrasound to monitor my cycle and see if I ovulated. I usually only ovulate with a HCG trigger shot the next day followed by an IUI. Well I tested positive on my ovulation test on Sunday so I had to make a quick call to my doctor to see what she wanted to do. The egg only lives for 24 hours, so if they were going to do an IUI they needed to do it soon! She called my at 6:30 this morning to left me know that Kent had his appointment at 7:15 this morning. After his appointment I have to wait an hour for them to wash his sperm and then drive it across town to my doctor's. I had to see a different doctor, because both of my doctors were out today. I went in and they did a quick ultrasound and discovered I did ovulate on my own!!!! And my lining looked good!!!! The last medication was thinning it out. So they did a IUI and also prescribed me Prometrium to take vaginally until I start my cycle or until I am 12 weeks pregnant! That should be lost of fun!! I just hope everything works out this time!!!

Once upon a Talent-- Girls Camp

This week I got the privilege of going to Girls Camp!!! I got called to be the ward camp director a few weeks ago and attended a total of 1 meeting. So basically I had no clue what was going on. Camp in Nebraska is a lot of different then Girls camp in Arizona when I was a girl. When I was a girl we had cabins, in Nebraska we bring tents and camp. In Arizona we have a ward camp director and then cabin mom's to help, here we had me the ward camp director and I had an assistant camp director who is totally inactive. I have never seen her at church before, but she does bring her daughter to activities on Wednesday about 1/2 the time. So it was the two of us and a total of 4 girls. We were also in charge of cooking our own food over the fire. We camped at Little Suiox, Iowa. It's about a  little of an hour away. She We meet at the church and piled the girls into my truck and another car and took off.
The first day we set up camp, did some certification. I was in charge of certifying all the 3rd year girls. I didn't realize that the first time we were supposed to be playing get to know you games and did not come prepared. So I taught them Up Jinx, which is really a drinking game. The girls loved it and it was the only game they would play the rest of camp. After certification we then went on a Royal Crusade. Our theme was "Once upon a talent" so it was based on fairy tales, princesses, and anything Renaissance. And then we learned about developing out talents and learning new ones. So the Royal crusade involved learning to solve riddles, photography, egg drops, building a knight in shinny armor, and building sand castles.

And other stuff. Like, how to hula, whistle, archery, bb guns, hula hoop, double dutch, and a few more. Then we headed back to the lake and went canoeing.
Before I go any farther, I give you a history or Little Sioux. It's a boy scout camp, but our ward goes on the second to last week in June every year. 2 years ago we moved it up a week due to youth conference. The week we would have been there a tornado hit the camp and killed 4 boy scouts. So, last year it was closed and we went to a different camp. This year we went back to our regular time, 2nd to last week in June. So tension were high about having a tornado. Well, back to camp. The first night we finished up with everything as were heading back to our tents when lightning started. So that meant we were not allowed to go to our tents and we had to hang out in some of the buildings. But then we got word that a bad storm was heading our way. So all the girls had to grab their bedding and head to the storm shelter to sleep for the night. Most of the wards got to sleep where there was AC, bathrooms, and showers. We got nothing but bugs! We were covered in bites when we woke up. We survived the  storm, but our tents did not.

The second day we went to work getting stuff hung up to dry while we were cooking breakfast. I spent about 15 mins with a bucket scooping water out of our tent. The fly flew off it during the storm, so there was nothing to keep the rain out. The girls tent got some stakes ripped out and it collapsed part of the tent in letting it leak. The girls were troops and helped out without complaining. We then had more certification classes followed by more talent classes.That night we had our royal feast which included a hog roast! Here are me with all my girls before the feast. After that was the ward skit. We had the best skit!!! It was so awesome! The girls put the whole thing together.

Here are the 3 princess! I had one 1st year, two 2nd years, and a YCL (youth camp leader). Here are my younger girls during the skit. They looked so cute!!! That night we were glad to sleep in out tent! But during the day the wind was so bad that it snapped one of the tent poles in half! So we got two pieces of plywood and splinted the pole together like a broken bone with duck tape. But then the wind snapped the wood in half too!!! But the tent still was holding up, so the girls had a place to sleep.

The third day was the the best!!! We went on a hike in the morning. I was in charge of leading the 3rd years on a hike. We went on the world shortest hike, then was assigned work duty around camp. Then after lunch we  learned self defense and then had a shaving cream war!!!!

 

We  were covered, which was a good thing, because for the whole time at camp we were allowed 1 three min. cold shower!! So we were pretty stinky by this time. We did wash our hair a few times using the water pump. But after the shaving cream war we washed it all off by going slip n sliding!!!

Look how huge this slide was!!! This is only about 3/4 of the slide!!! You would get going so fast!! I taught the girls that if they took some shaving cream and rubbed it on their rear they would go faster!! So it was really funny to see all these teenage girls lined up to go down and passing a can of shaving cream down the line and rubbing cream on their bottom!!! We got burnt but it was a blast!!! That night the bishop came  as well as the young women's president. We had stake testimony meeting followed by ward testimony meeting. That was a really touching experience. All the girls in our group shared their testimony which was a big thing. half of our girls of in active that came. We can't even get them to pray and activities. We have the experience of hearing them pray and sharing their testimony at camp. It was amazing!!
The next day we had a spiritual hike followed by breaking down the camp. Again my girls pulled through and were a huge help. We were the first one down and ready to go!!! We were glad to be on our way home to AC, showers, and a bed!!! I hope I get to go next year.

I guess we will let the cat out of the bag......

I know what you are all expecting me to say and ............no I'm not pregnant! In fact it's the opposite. We have been trying for a year and have spent the last 6 or so months doing fertility treatments. I started on 50mg Clomid, then they moved me up to 100mg. I did three month of that. Clomid is a drug that causes your body to ovulate and increases your chance of getting pregnant. That did not work for me. I then started going in and having ultrasounds done to see if I was ovulating, if I was they would then give me a HCG trigger shot in my rear. Those hurt for days!!!! These also did not work, so last month I did Clomid, HCG trigger shot, Ultrasound and an IUI. For those of you who don't know what an IUI is....it stands for Intra Intrauterine Insemination. Basically they put the sperm directly into your uterus. This also help you chances of getting pregnant. None of that helped. They don't really know what is wrong with me. I got pregnant my first month of birth control with Wesson. All of my test and Kent's test come back fine. So this month they ran some more test, and I go in next Monday for a HSG. This is when they put dye through your tubes and uterus to see if there are any blocked tubes. This is either really painful or just uncomfortable. They don't know until they start the dye and see if you have any blocked tubes. So they tell you to take 800mg of Aspirin before you go in. Then I will also go in later in the month and do my ultrasound, HCG trigger shot, and then an IUI if everything looks good. The HSG cleans out the tubes so it also increases your chance of pregnancy as well as give your doctor more information. So I hope it helps. We are blessed to have fertility coverage. If not we won't not be able to afford any of these treatments and we would never get pregnant. But our coverage only goes so far. I hope we can figure something out before our money runs out. If not, I guess adoption is really our only option.
Why am I tell you all of this? We were keeping it a secret. My mom didn't even know until this week. But I figure this might be a way to stop people from asking me when I'm going to get pregnant again, or why I don't have another kid by know. Plus this is a big thing that is going on in our lives right now. Also maybe we can get some support to help us through this. Every month is an emotional roller coaster with all the doctor's appointments and then waiting to see if it worked. There is a chance that I could end up with twins. I don't want twins, I hope to have just on healthy baby. On the other hand, if it takes this long I might as well have 2. Though the thought of having twins is terrifying!! I plan on having a natural birth and doing VBAC, which won't happen if I have twins. Plus, I want to run as long as possible when I get pregnant and I won't be able to do that either. I really don't want twins. I just want one healthy baby. Is that too much to ask?

Big Sister!

A friend of mine had her second kid this morning, so I had privilege of watching her daughter Simone. Simone is about 5 months older than Wesson, and they are so cute together. I got a call at midnight last night, asking if they could drop her off, while they headed to the hospital.  The kids woke up at 5:30, so I really didn't sleep last night. But while they were playing I made this cute shirt for Simone to welcome her new brother to the world. I just used scraps of material I had left from some earlier projects.

Baby projects

So during nap time I started and completed 3 different baby projects!!! Two of them were something new I tired and i I have done several times.

Here is the Hooter Hidder I made. I have made several of these before. They are so fast and easy!!! I was a little more bold on my color choice for fabric. But I love it!! I want to keep it. Kent hates the fabric. I don't know why!!

I also tried a Wee- Wee- Wigwam. You, know for boys. You know how they are when you change their pants. This was super fast and I just used scraps of fabric I already had!

I also made a car seat cover. This was the first time I made of these. I had to drag out Wesson's old carseat to see how it looked. Here is the outside.

I also made some really cute burp rags, but I gave them away before I took a picture. They were super fast and easy to make. I will definitely be making more of those. Next time I will take a picture.

1/2 marathon #2

So today I finished my second half marathon!!!! It was a lot different than that last one in Arizona. This one was in Iowa. It started in a small town called Storm lake and ended in a little town, I think the population is about 300, called Marathon. So you run a marathon to Marathon, or in my case a 1/2 marathon! So the race was called Marathon to Marathon!!!

This is Storm Lake. This is where we started and had to pick up our packets. Which you picked up at the local high school, which looks decent size for a small town, until you realize that it's the Community College too! This is also where we had our hotel!
Our hotel was awful!!! It was really dumpy! You don't believe me?!!?

This was our bathroom! Yes, it is green!!! Not only was it green, it was dirty! At least we didn't have to shower in it!

This is our ceiling! I don't know if you can tell, but that is a huge crack that has been repaired! We had these all over! It looked pretty bad on the outside too. We had a refrigerator and a microwave in our room, which neither one of them worked!!! Then when I turned in the key, there was no one there and I had to call someone so then they came out of the office wearing pajamas and got my key!
Well we woke up this morning to a full on thunderstorm!! Lighting, thunder, and pouring buckets of rain. We knew that there were chances of rain, so we brought a light jacket. We head to the high school/ college and find out that the race has been pushed back an hour and maybe more! They would inform us every 15 min or so, if the race was going to start! If they delayed it for 3 hours the race was off and that means all my hard work was for nothing and we don't got our money back for the race. Which means we drove 2 and a 1/2 hours to sleep in an over priced dumpy hotel!
So while it was delayed we realized that chances of getting back to our hotel to check out by 11 was impossible, due to not knowing when the race was going to start and catching a bus back to our car which added about 45 mins! So we headed back to our hotel room, packed up checked out and ran to wal-mart. Which was one of the only stores opened at 6 in the morning! At wal-mart we pick up some ponchos and a visor to help deal with the rain. The race would start when the lightning was done, but not the rain! It looked like it was going to rain all day!
So our raced started at 8 instead of 7! We were excited to get to run the race!!! We head out wearing our ponchos in the rain! They were flapping behind us like capes and we looked pretty silly!

I know this picture is blurry, but her were are in our ponchos waiting to find out if we would get to race and what time we would start! Back to running! I finially ditched my poncho at about 3 miles. It was looking better outside and I still had my jacket if I needed, but also because those ponchos trap all that body heat in and made me really hot! So it stopped raining, mostly, but we had about a 30 mile per hour wind either blowing right at us or from the side! That just made the run more fun ;) Then because it stopped raining we now had awful humidity! now our race consisted of basically running through cornfields. We saw a house about every mile or so! Here is an example of the description of mile marks from the map they gave us before the race --mile 5marker-- 60 ft north or buried cable box in east ditch.
12th mile marker--42 ft west of marker in south ditch
Finish line-- 35 ft west of manhole cover at intersection of Illissus and West Attica Streets by Methodist Church and Community Center.
This is how they all were!!! Crazy!!! At least they had every mile marked with a sign, if not I would be lost!!! They told us the run would be flat, but it was about 50/50. So again that just made the race that much more fun;) I ran with my friend Erica, she did great. She was struggling a lot. She woke us feeling sick that day, you know how you get about once a month. Not fun!  So I had to bully her along, but it slowed down my time. I started having problems with my hip about 6 miles in, every step was painful!! I've been haven't problems with it for a few weeks. I was just glad it held out until almost the half way point! She had to stop and walk a bit, but near the end I couldn't walk without regretting it. It was twice as bad to start up again. I slowed my pace and would yell back at her to get running, her walking time was over! I think I ran it in 2hr 29 mins. a min over my last time. I wasn't very happy, but considering everything I guess it's ok. They didn't have a big timer over the finish line, they just announced it as you cross with your race number and name and where you were from. So I think that's the time they said. I'll check later. As soon as I finished I ran back to Erica and helped her finish! I told myself that I would not let a marathoner (they started before us, up the road 13.1 miles) pass me, but when I had 2 miles left He passed me! That means he ran a little of 2 1/2 hour marathon!!!! Crazy!!!

Yeah!!! We finished the race!!!!

We felt so proud of ourselves for running that race!!! We started walking together a little over a year together and now look how far we have come!!!

What is the best why to finish up a marathon? Eat a marathon snickers bar!!! Yummy!!!!

Tommorrow is the day!!!

that i run my second 1/2 marathon!!! We ( Erica and I) leave tonight to drive to Iowa, so we can start the race at 6 in the morning!!! We are a little nervous. The high is supposed to be 70 for the day and we are supposed to have thunderstorms all day! I guess I just have to hope that the corn is taller than I am!!! So I hope for cool weather and no rain!!! We also are nervous about having no support for our race. Our families are not going with us and the trail you run is pretty much vacant, so there are is no one to cheer you on!! At my last race the have volunteers assigned every so far to cheer for you!!! It was great!!! Well... wish me luck.... that I don't get struck by lightning and that we finish the race!!!!

Where do they come up with this stuff?

The other day I got Wesson out of the bath tub and had him wrapped up in his towel and then held him up to the mirror and this is how our conversation went.......
Me: Where is my handsome boy?
Wes: Right there! (pointing to me)
Me: No! That's mommy! Mommy is a.....? ( giving him a chance to fill in girl)
Wes: A mommy!
Me: Yes, mommy is a mommy, but mommy is a girl and you are a........? (hopeful that he would say boy)
Wes: (Looked at me square in the eyes, while holding cheeks with both hands) A MAN!!!
Me: OH! A Man! If you are a man.... what is daddy?
Wes: A boy!!!


Where do kids learn this stuff! I guess we need to work on the whole boy and girl thing more!

Running

Wow! I can't believe that I have been running for a year now. Just last year at this time I was so excited that I was able to run a mile without stopping!!! Now I look at all the different things I have accomplished in this last year.
I have ran a 5 miler.
I have ran a cross country 8k.
I have ran 3 5K's.
I have trained 3 friends to run 5 K's
I have ran a 1/2 marathon.
I have ran 2 10k's.
I will be running my second 1/2 marathon on Saturday. Can't wait!!! Wish me luck!!
I hope to complete a triathlon in August. ( I have to see if they have it this year)
I also have my eye on a couple of other 5/10k's I want to run this year before it gets too cold.
I have gone from a size 8 to a size 4, but I still weigh almost the same. I plan on doing a sprinting program to maybe help lose some weight, or down another pants size.

And to think a year a go I could 1 mile! If I can do it, anyone can. I didn't even like running! Now I need it! I'm so glad that I started running and also for the friends I have ran with this last year. I couldn't have down it without you! Thanks!

Accident

Here are some pictures from Kent's accident. I tried to get some good pictures, but it was hard. This is what his injuries looked like a week after it happened.

That is only 1/2 of the bruise on his shoulder from the seat belt. He also has a good on on his hip and broken blood vessels across  his whole chest from the seat belt.

Here is one arm. Most of the burns have faded, but you can still see some.

Here is his other arm. The back of his hand was really swollen. We thought it was broken, but it's not. Thank goodness!

We are very blessed the there wasn't more serious injuries. I am so glad that he was wearing a seat belt, and that the air bags went off! We got our settlement from it. We got a decent amount and are happy with it. They could of gave us a lot less! We have the rental car until Thursday, so we have until then to get a new car. Most likely another truck!

Boy's Town Memorial day 5 mile Run!

So Erica and I decided to run the Memorial Day 5 mile run, in place of our training run, which was only supposed to be 3 miles. Well, we got to the race and discovered that the race didn't start at 8 like we thought. The kid races started and 8 and the 5 miler was the last race, so it didn't start until 9. It wasn't very clear on the emails we received. Well, I was bummed I promised my family I would be to their house by 9:30. I  now I couldn't run 5 miles in a half hour and get back home. So we didn't run the race. We ran part of the course that wasn't being used and ran 3 miles around Boy's Town instead. So here are our race pictures;)

Our 1/2 marathon is in a week and a half!!! So excited!!! I hope to bet my time.

Arizona and a Wedding!!!

Here is a list of some of the things we did while in Arizona for my sister's wedding:

 We played with some cousins. Wesson loved playing with Daniel and Hedi!!

We stayed with Kaylene and Bobby and Wesson loved spending time with his cousin Lania! His favorite thing to do was to give her rides in her walker. Lania would sit in it and Wesson would push it around.

 

I got to spend time with Lania. She is such a cutie!!She looks even cuter now that she has glasses. Little kids in glasses are too cute!

Kent and I got to do a session in the Mesa temple. This is were we got married, but have never done a session. We got to go through with my sister for her first time. It's crazy how big it is too our little Winter Quarters Temple.

Wesson loved feeding the Chickens. If there wasn't feed around Wesson would just pick up some dirt and through it in. The chickens loved it. Every time we were at my brother's house we would go feed the chicken dirt. Shhh... don't tell Irving!

Wesson's favorite game is chase. So he had lots of fun with Sassy the goat. He would put his hands out so Sassy would come to him, then he would turn look over his shoulder and run!

Sassy would chase after him until she reached the end of her leash! And then the whole process would start over until Wesson couldn't convince the goat to chase him. I told Kent we needed to get a kid. (HaHa get it... a kid)

Then when Sassy wouldn't play with him any more he would try to bribe her with his snacks!!! "Here Sassy have juice!"

Wesson had fun playing with Brisa and all of his Aunts and Uncles!!! I was so glad that he wasn't shy, and would play with them!

Here we are remembering our own wedding almost 4 years ago!!! Gosh... that seems like a long time.

We had a good vacation and had lots of fun, even though Wesson got sick for about 4 days! I'm glad that the next wedding will be in Nebraska! now family can come to us, instead of us coming to them!
