Shirts!!! Shirts!!! And more Shirts!!!

This year I decided to make shirts for all my kids at work. There is a total of 9 kids including Wesson. And 2 of those are babies. The only thing I bought was the actual shirt and the buttons, the rest of the materials I either had on hand or my mom did! This is just one of my many Christmas projects!!! Take a look!!
Here is a picture of most of the shirts I tried to do several different styles, ric rac, ruffles, appliqued, and ribbon. Then I added a knit to the sleeves to make them long and to have the layered look.

Here is the ruffles, I wish the star button was bigger, but it was the only one they had.
Here is one of the ribbon ones.
This doesn't show the ric rac ones very good, but it shows what a cheese ball Wesson is being!!!
Here is an appliqued shirt. I really like the red snowflake one the best, but I didn't get a picture of it.
Here is a better view of the ric rac shirts! Don't they look so excited to wear them! I didn't think that the kids would be so excited to get clothes!!!

Running nine and a half miles tomorrow. Wish me luck! Hope I can do it. I was supposed to run 8.5 last week, but due to being snowed in I didn't get all my workouts in and only ran 4.5 (sad day). But the weather is supposed to be warmer than it's been so I'll be running when it's 30 degrees outside. Yeah for warm weather!!!!

Here is an update....

I know I promised pictures and details of my last race, but all the pictures are on my brothers camera and I haven't taken the time to move them to my computer, but I can tell you the details of the race.
The Saturday after Halloween I ran an Cross Country 8K! This means 5 miles or pure hills! But not only are there hills, but you are running on grass, dirt, wood chips, and mud! You had to run up stairs, leap over logs, and run through a mud lake!!! I wanted to give up so many times, but I didn't and ran every step of the way! I ended up with blisters on the side of my feet from running on uneven surfaces! I ran it in about 55 mins! I was so tired when I crossed the finish line, it didn't help that I sprinted the last .2 only to find out that it wasn't the finish line and that I had to run another .2! I know that doesn't seem like a long distance, but it felt like a mile!!!

Thanksgiving I did a fun run! On line it said it was either 4 miles or 6 miles, but when I got to the run I found out it was either 4.3 miles or 7.4 miles! I went thinking I was going to run 6, but changed my mind. It was super cold! I believe it was in the 30's that morning. After running 2 miles my body had finally warmed up so I could feel my lips again! So I only ran 4!

I have decided that I am going to run a half marathon! I plan on running the one in Sedona, AZ the first Sat. in Feb., but I still need to call the air lines and find how much it would cost to change my ticket. I had previously bought tickets and fly home the day before the race. So we will see. I am still following my training schedule. Saturday I ran 7.4 miles! I hope to do all my long runs outside, but right now we are in a middle of a blizzard, so we will see! The rest of my runs I do at the Y! I hate it! I get sooo bored! I have to run and watch ESPN!! Can't they play something interesting! Plus I'm not used to running on a treadmill! It feels so awkward! But Kent is getting an Ipod for Christmas, so I will steal it and at least have something to listen to! So Saturday bring on 8 miles! Or 8.5! I try to stay a half mile ahead, so if I miss some running (like this week, I've been snowed in for 2 day, so no running!) I won't be too far behind!

Wesson had been so funny lately! The day before Thanksgiving was my MIL birthday. We sang the song once and then later we hear Wesson sing it! So now he sings it all the time! And wants me to sing it to him all the time, even when I am putting him to bed! But it's always Grandpa's birthday! He still loves animals and thinks all the reindeer on our Christmas tree are cows!! He has also discovered how to open doors!

I've been working on lots of projects for Christmas, but I can't post any pictures until later. But I'm really excited about some of them!

Halloween and 5K!!!

We kick off Halloween by running a 5K to work off all that candy I know I will be eating! No, it was not an official race. We decided not to do that because you had to register by Oct. 14th and on the 10th we got 5 inches of snow! We didn't know what the weather was going to be like and didn't want to waste $25! Plus a couple in our ward was going to race it by themselves so the two girls I run with and I decided to join them. One girl dropped out due to health issues. So it was Maggie and Matt Hovey and their 2 boys (we pushed in strollers) Rachel LeBaron, and I.

Here are the 3 girls coming up to the finish line! I was really surprised the they did it! So proud of them!! Her I am crossing the finish line! I pushed one of Mggie's boys most of the way! It didn't bother me, I usually push Wesson when I run! Though I do like my jogging stroller a lot better. That one hurts my back!!!

Here we are after the race. We had great weather! It was around 35 degrees when we started the race. Perfect weather!!!

We decided to make our own shirts so, be appliqued a ghost in the front and "5k" on the back!!

Now for Halloween!!!!

This is Wesson he went as Curious George!!! I bought his pant and sweater and sewed the ears, tummy, and tail on!! I think he turned out super cute!!

Here is Kent! He went as the Man with the Yellow Hat!!! I made his pants, hat, tie, and then dye an old White Sunday shirt yellow!!! Very Handsome!!!

Here they are together!!!

Aren't the cute!!! I love their costume!!!

This picture Kent took at our ward "Trunk or Treat". I thought these costume ideas were cute! Zeke is Wall E and Reid is a pig in a blanket!!! Great Job Maggie!!!

CHEESE!!!!!

This is what I found when I was making dinner. Every time I put the cheese down and turned around Wesson would grab the cheese and try to eat!

18 months!!!

I can't believe my little boy is 18 months!!! He is learning more and more every day! Here are some things he does....

*like pushing the box of diapers up to the wall so he is tall enough to turn the light on and off
* Likes to open the dish washer and clean it out or play with the butter knifes. He loves to stand them on the point in the hole for the jet dry stuff!
* Likes to hold the key (always the car key, never any other key) as we walk out to the car.
* counts to 10 (more or less)
* can fill in missing letters when you sing the ABC's
* Still loves to help Grandpa and Uncle Levi outside--- He is very particular about how he does things. My dad has an electric truck so he is always checking the batteries and Wesson loves to help. So Grandpa gives him tools to help. He copies Grandpa to the T. I mean He will use the wrench on the batteries but only where the screw and nut is... never anywhere else. ..because that is what Grandpa does!
* Scream and throws a fit if you are going outside and he is not going with you!!
*Loves nursery-- he could care less if I leave. He will throw a fit if I have to take him out of nursery to change his diaper. He doesn't want to leave.
*Thinks that whenever he leave he has to give everyone a kiss. That includes the dog.
*i don't know how many words he know, but a lot.
* He learns new animal sounds daily.
* Anything on wheels he loves to push around our little apt. laundry hamper, computer chair, or cars.
* He now will sit and watch a t.v. episode. I usually turn on Baby Einstein when he wake up from nap.
* He loves to sit on the potty. No he hasn't done anything yet, but he likes to sit on it anyways!
* loves to take off his pants and throw them out of the crib with all his blankets when he doesn't want to take a nap.
* He can chant "Go big Red!" much to daddy's delight!
* Loves corn dogs!
* Loves playing with anything Kitchen related. So glad he is getting a play kitchen for Christmas. Now I just need to start on the felt food!

He had his doctor's appointment today, so that meant shots! They get worse and worse every time. He cries harder and longer, this is not going to be fun when he is 5! He got a Flu shot, Hep B, and H1N1. They told me to call back in a month and see if they have any more H1N1 to finish it off. I was lucky and the office just got one vial that morning of H1N1. But here are his stats:
Weight- 25.2 Lbs ( 40 percent)
Height- 32.5" (58 percent)
head-- 49 cm ( 80 percent)

All those project I've talked about and never posted......

Ok... Here are some of those projected that I've talked about, but never posted pictures of. Well here they are!

Here is a Purse I made for Alisa. She pick out the fabric and I sewed it for her!

I don't know why this pic is sideways, it was taken horizonal and I uploaded it like that. So I don't know why it is flipped.
Here is a rag blanket I made fore Laina. This time I appliqued a 'L' in the corner.

I thought this one turned out really cute. From now on I this I will do a letter in the corner.
Here is a halter apron I made! It's reversible. I got it free on line. I don't remember where. I just requested the pattern and she sent it to me in the mail! I love this pattern!
Side 2!!
Here is a purse I made for Alisa's for Alisa's friend. She picked out the fabric and paid for it and I made it for her.
I didn't get a picture of the inside of the purse, but the fabric is supper cute. Next time, I think I will make the shoulder strap longer.
This purse Alisa's friend paid me to make for her. The outside is sued and in the inside is zebra print. This only problem I had was changing the iron setting. I forgot and ended up melting the fabric and buying more.

Another friend asked me to make one for her and here it is.... I think I would have made the outside of the purse the pink fabric, but she wanted it black. Still it turned out cute!

I made one more purse for Dasha for her birthday, but I never took pictures of it. I'll try to and then I think I am caught up for now.

What did we do today.....

When we woke up this morning there was about 2 inches of snow outside!!!! We got about 5 inches over all, though most has melted by now. So Wesson went out and played in the snow! Well walked around at least. He wasn't very sure about it.

Grandma and Wesson

Helping Grandma take the mail out to the mail box!

Walking around in the snow! When we first put his boots on he wasn't so sure about them. You would go to put him down and he would pull up his feet. Then he got used to them, but would not step in the snow, he would just try to step over patches here and there. He also hated his mittens. That was hassle. You get one one and try to get the other one on before he ripped it off his hand! Then we had to keep both of them on while we tried to get his coat on! Man! Talk about a work out! After a few times of getting all his snow gear on he is a lot better and getting dress without undoing all my work!
See... not very happy about getting dressed up. No.. I don't have a dry scalp.... It's snow!!!

He is a lot happier when he only has to wear his hat! I love how his hat makes his cheeks look chubbier!!

10K...The results!!!

So... I did it!! I ran the whole time! I ran it in 1 hour ans 7 min! That's 10 mins. faster than last week!! So we ran a little faster than an 11 min mile. Our goal was 12 min. miles. Plus I didn't come in last!!! About 5 people came in after Levi and I. Plus there were several that dropped out and didn't make it to the finish line!!! I felt great after the race!!! I'm so glad that I did it, but I would not have been able to do it with out Levi's help!! Thanks a ton Levi!! You are the best brother ever!!! The weather was perfect! Cloudy and cool! We had to wear sweaters and pants before the race and then during the run we stayed nice a cool! Not to hot, but not too cold! Kent and Wesson made it to the race (they were running late last time and got there after we finished) in time to cheer us on as we crossed the finish line. So here are the pics...
Here we are about .2 from the finish line! Almost there!!!

Crossing the line!! Levi was a gentlemen and let me go first!!
After the race all sweaty and glad to be done!!
Uncle Levi being silly! It's a good thing that Wesson loves him!!!

Future running plans: 5K on Halloween
8K the week after Halloween
5K or 10K on Thanksgiving!
Then here in Nebraska it gets to cold with the snow and all to run... sad day... I still need to figure out what I'm going to do in the winter. Any suggestion?

10K

So.... on Saturday I'm running a 10K! I know I'm crazy! Last Saturday was the first time I actually ran that long with the help of my wonderful brother. He kept me going the whole time. Several times I felt like throwing up, but after I finished I felt great! I wasn't even really sore the next day.
So the next day I registered for the race! So I'm going to run this thing and not walk once! I know I am going to come in last, but who cares! I do know that I will come in last. Here are the facts:
1. I ran 6.3 miles in 1 hour and 17 min.
2. For the last 5 years the person who came in last ran it in 1 hour 3min.
3. I can not run it faster.
4. I will come in last.
5. But I will run the whole 6.2 miles!

One more project down!

So I though I'll post the cute blanket I made for my sister's baby, Lanea? (I' don't know how they are spelling it) I actually bought this material to make a baby sling, but then I saw the material I really wanted while they were cutting this material. I really didn't know what to do with this material, but I I knew I could come up with something, when Kent suggested that it would make a supper cute rag quilt. So I followed my husbands advice and made this cute blanket. Doesn't my husband have good advice? Look how good it turned out! Hope you like it Kaylene? Now I just need to figure out how to get it to you?

5K!!!

On Monday I ran my first race!! It was only a 5k, but I loved it! In fact I want to see if I can push myself and do a 10K in 3 WEEKS!! I know! I must be crazy! I ran it in about 31 mins, so that's about 6 mins. faster than my normal time. I know the time in the picture is different, but it was not a chipped race, so the time is off. We started in the back and took us a while before we actually crossed the starting line. The weather was perfect and the trail was mostly flat!
My running buddies! My sister Alisa (who ran the whole thing after training for only 3 weeks) and Mel ( who had never ran 3.1 miles before, pushed me the whole time, and has a 3 month old!)

Finishing the race! I sprinted the last .1 miles. I took off flying! I didn't even know I could run that fast! I passed about three people and was about dying when I crossed the finish line.
Here we are are sweaty and gross, but really happy to have finished the race. Alisa ended up placing 3rd in her age group. Not bad with only three weeks of training! This race has totally increased my love for running! I really hope I can do a 10K in three weeks, if not I'll just do the 5K again. I plan on adding one mile every week! Think I can do it?

So I just looked at the results online and here they are: I came in 78 out of 131 contestants. Then in my age group 25-29 I was 19 out of 27. I know those are not great, but I wasn't last!!!

What did I do tonight?

Well... I made this cute baby sling! They are super easy to make and take no time at all! I really wish I could have a picture of it being used, so you could get the full effect, but Wesson was in bed and he is way to big.
Plus, I made this... a card to go with it! Yeah! That is fabric sewn on a piece of paper. I'm too cheap to actually go to the store and buy one! So.. I just used up some scraps of material that I'm also too cheap to throw away! I hope she likes them! Oh, I guess I should mention that it's for a baby shower I'm going to .

Why?

First off, sorry about the picture. It you can't read the cover it's called "Breastfeeding 101". The the book they give every mom in the hospital. Why am I blogging about it? Well... it's Wesson's favorite book!! No, it is not a recent thing. This has been going on since he was about 9 months! I have two book selves and this is just one of the random book on it. Wesson will always pull out this book and carry it around. I always take it back and put it in a different place or hide it. But he ALWAYS finds it again! I can even put it someplace for a week or until I think he has forgotten about it. Place it back on the shelve during nap time, and that afternoon he will have it out again. Why? I don't know! He doesn't play with any other book, just that one!! It's not like he sits and look at the cover, he just sit down and likes flipping through the pages (which has No pictures) or just carries it!

Bullhead, AZ

For the last couple of year we have been talking about visiting Bullhead Arizona. To see Kent's Grandparents and Uncle. The last time he had seen them was about a year before him mission. I have never met them. We did get a chance to see Uncle Richard at our wedding, but had not seen him since. So we decided that we needed to see them and for them to meet Wesson. Now the closest airport is in Las Vegas. Then it's an hour and half drive to Bullhead. We were glad to get there.
Grandma, Melissa (SIL who decided to come with ), Grandpa, Uncle Richard, Indi (the dog), Kent, and Wesson

Wesson made fast friends with Indi, He loved feeding Indi crackers which put him on the dogs good side. It made up for all the times Wesson would yank on her face or pull on her. Wesson also loved to open mouth kiss Indi on the nose. Sadly we missed a picture of that. We decovered while we were there that Wesson must be allergic to dogs. His eye got all swollen and splochy so we had to make a trip and get some allergy medicine. I also had to make a trip for diaper wipes, I left them in the Omaha airport when I changed a stinky diaper defore take off. And another for diaper cream. Man I was on a roll!

Wesson loved having lots of attention and having time to play with daddy!

Wesson's new thing is to point to everything and say "what's that?" So for 3 days that is all he did and while it drove me about crazy Grandma ate it up. She loved having Wesson talk to her and point things out.

Wesson loved playing with Uncle Rich. Usually because where ever Uncle Rich was so was the dog! But He loved going outside and playing with him. They became best buddies!

Wesson didn't sleep well the first couple of nights, which is tipical of all our vacations. So one of his favorite things to do was sit on Uncle Richard's lap and watch the Tabernacle chior preform. It was a life saver!

Here he is with Grandpa. He learned how to climb up in Grandpa's chair as well as the rocking chair and he just got so proud of himself! Since one of his favorite words right now is grandpa, he would walk around the house saying "randpa" or "doggie".

So since we had several days on our hands we decided to look up and see if we could find any family touristy things to do. Basically, it said "since you are in a purely gambling area, there is nothing family todo except gamble." Well, that didn't give us much help, but then Grandpa and Uncle Richard suggested we visit Oatman and the London Bridge....
We went and saw "Oatman", which is a little minning town. Which is really nothing to look at, but when all the miners left, they left all of their burros. So then the burros just stuck around and became sort of wild. So bascially you go to Oatman and feed the wild burros carrots! I guess it's the think to do, if you aren't into gambling! Those these burros can get fisty and will butt you around if you don't feed them fast enough! Wesson liked it for awhile, but then they started backing us up into a cornor and he got scared. I don't blame him. I was getting a little nervous myself!

We took a road trip to Lake Havasu City to see " The London Bridge". Yes, this is the really London bridge and it is not falling down. We even drove across it to make sure. Lake Havasu bought this bridge and had it shipped brick by brick and had it reconstruced over the lake.

The have this whole little lake side little "Londonland" along the river.

See! Now I gues I can say I've been to London! jk!

Here is our family in front of the London Bridge. It was super hot, so we took some pictures and headed home!

They even had these cute little phone booths, so we had to stop and try them out!

We had a great vacation and hope we can go back and visit them again soon. It was so great meet them and getting to know them better. We enjoyed lots of stories and jokes that will remain with us.
